The Inland Sea, also called Qawra is a scenic lagoon separated from the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea by a long tunnel rock formation. This amazing seawater lagoon and sea cave is great for swimming, scuba diving, or for photography!

The Inland Sea is a small sea lake connected to the open Mediterranian Sea by a natural cave that forms narrow straight tunnel through the cliffs. The tunnel is wide enough to allow the passage of small boats. It is thought that the Inland Sea started life as a tunnel leading to a colossal sea cave and then the roof of the cave collapsed.

Inland Sea is a little misleading as this stretch of water is only the size of a small lake. But it is a notable landmark and we were surprised how knowledgeable the local boatman were during a short 15 minute ride through the cave entrance seaward. This is very cheap (a few Euros each) and enhances the visit.

The Inland Sea dive site is located on the west coast of Gozo, a stone's throw away from the Blue Hole Dive Site. The location of this dive site is very picturesque. Boat houses and high sea cliffs surround a shallow seawater lagoon. This lagoon joins the open sea via an 80 tunnel. Regular boat tours take visitors through the tunnel and out.
